Individual Therapy
Thoughtful, steady therapy focused on understanding patterns and building practical skills for lasting change.
For children, adolescents, and adults
What is individual therapy?
Individual therapy offers a supportive, one-on-one space to better understand what you’re experiencing and develop tools to navigate life with more clarity and steadiness. People seek individual therapy for many reasons — sometimes because something feels particularly heavy, and sometimes because patterns keep repeating despite best efforts to manage them.
In my practice, individual therapy is collaborative and responsive. Whether you’re an adult navigating anxiety or life transitions, or a parent seeking support for your child or adolescent, therapy is shaped around what feels most important right now.
What brings people to individual therapy?
Individuals often reach out when they are experiencing:
Anxiety, chronic worry, or feeling constantly “on edge”
Emotional overwhelm, burnout, or difficulty regulating emotions
Depression, low mood, or loss of motivation
Life transitions, identity shifts, or major changes
ADHD-related challenges such as focus, emotional regulation, organization, or daily functioning
Parenting stress or relational strain impacting emotional well-being
You don’t need to be in crisis to begin therapy. Many people come simply because they want things to feel more manageable.
My Approach
My approach to individual therapy is steady, collaborative, and tailored to the person in front of me. Therapy is not rigid or one-size-fits-all. Some sessions focus on understanding patterns and emotional responses, while others emphasize practical skills for coping, communication, and regulation.
I draw from evidence-based approaches while remaining flexible and attuned to your needs. For children and adolescents, therapy is developmentally appropriate and may include play-based or creative elements to support expression and emotional safety.
Areas of Focus
Depending on age and needs, individual therapy may support:
Emotional regulation and coping skills
Navigating anxiety and stress responses
Managing transitions and life changes
Focus, impulse control, and emotional expression
Increased self-understanding and confidence
If you’re unsure whether your concerns fit here, that’s okay — we can talk through it together.
What Sessions Look Like
Individual therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes and are available in person or via telehealth. Sessions are guided by your goals and needs, and the pace is collaborative. Some weeks may involve reflecting on recent experiences, while others focus on skill-building or exploring themes that continue to surface.
For children, session length and structure are thoughtfully determined with parents or caregivers to best support the child’s developmental needs.
Individual therapy is a good fit if you’re looking for ongoing, relationship-based support that unfolds over time. This approach allows us to build a steady therapeutic relationship, notice patterns as they show up in real life, and adjust the work as your needs change.
Early on, we’ll create a treatment plan together that reflects your goals and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. This plan isn’t rigid — it’s a shared guide that helps us stay intentional while remaining responsive as things shift or new needs emerge.
Sessions typically take place on a regular schedule, and we collaborate on how often we meet based on your goals, availability, and level of support needed. Individual therapy offers space to reflect, practice new skills between sessions, and return to the work at a pace that feels sustainable.
For some people, a therapy intensive may feel like a better fit. Intensives provide concentrated support over a shorter period of time and are often chosen when someone is seeking focused work around anxiety, parenting concerns, or a specific challenge. Rather than meeting over weeks or months, the work happens in extended sessions designed to create momentum and relief more quickly.
If you’re unsure which option is right for you, we can talk through both and decide together what level of support will best meet your needs.
